Four low or zero emission vehicles are now in use across the college’s campuses. Three cars – a Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCi, an automatic Kia Rio and an all-electric Mitsubishi IMiEV – are at the South Kensington campus, while an additional VW Golf BlueMotion 1.6 TDCi is in the Silwood Park campus in Ascot. Further parking bays have also been allocated across the college’s sites in Royal Brompton, Hammersmith, Charing Cross and St Mary’s, Paddington.

Members can easily book the vehicles online, by phone, or using a smartphone app and, as with all 24/7 vehicles, RFID technology allows keyless entry to any vehicle in the fleet. While on the road, members have 24/7 one-touch access to the Member Care Centre through the in-car, hands-free telecom technology.

All 24/7 rentals in the UK include 20 free miles, congestion charge, cleaning, maintenance and VAT, with standard rates starting from £5.50 per hour. Imperial College London Car Club members will also be able to use the Hertz 24/7 service UK, US, France, Germany, Spain and Australia for hourly, daily or weekly rentals, with any time instant access.

Imperial College London is the latest educational institution for Hertz’s 24/7 program in the UK, which also serves Reading University and London’s Brunel University. Hertz 24/7 also partners with over 50 universities in the United States.

Hertz 24/7 offers technology-enhanced vehicles in convenient locations across the UK, US, France, Germany, Spain and Australia. Providing round-the-clock access to vehicles for hire by the hour, day, week or month, Hertz currently has 35,000 vehicles (including cars, mini-vans, vans and SUVs) equipped for 24/7 rentals. As Hertz continues to roll out the technology through its global fleet, around 500,000 vehicles are expected to be in the network by 2016, which is expected to be ten times the size of the current car sharing industry combined.

The report highlights results and achievements of the company’s integration of sustainability best practices across its global operations, positioning Hertz as a leader in Sustainable Mobility and Equipment Solutions.

    (Logo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20130620/NY35609LOGO )

"Sustainability is part of our daily life at Hertz- it’s become a business management tool, as well as a mechanism to protect the environment and provide community benefits," commented Mark P. Frissora, Hertz Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "While we have made tremendous progress, our parallel commitment to continuous improvement means that we always strive to innovate and advance our sustainability efforts. Our sustainability efforts, as seen through Living Journey, will provide value to our stakeholders and help ensure the long-term health and productivity of the customers and communities we serve. We take pride in the progress that has been achieved since the launch of Living Journey."

Living Journey (http://www.hertzlivingjourney.com), launched last year, includes Hertz’s sustainability initiatives and plans for the future. This strategy includes a focused commitment to smart mobility, environment, community outreach, and Hertz’s overall corporate commitment and best practices.

Through its various elements, Hertz’s Living Journey 2012 Sustainability Report highlights the following achievements:

Fleet: For travelers, 74% of Hertz’s car rental fleet averages 28+ mpg and the Company’s Green Traveler Collection features low emission and fuel efficient vehicles which average better than 48+ mpg. This collection includes a range of Hybrids, Electric, CNG, and clean diesel vehicles. Additionally, Hertz is exploring a range of cars and buses that use alternative fuels and technologies for airport transportation.

Hertz Equipment Rental Corporation also maintains a sustainable fleet with 70% of earthmoving equipment powered by low-emission engines in models that are 2012 and newer, which reduce air-pollution by 90% vs older models. Donlen, Hertz’s fleet leasing management company, has assisted companies in reducing fleet emissions through Fleets for Change, with a goal of minimizing commercial fleet greenhouse gas emissions by 20% over five years. And, Donlen’s DriverPoint Telematics measures the impact of driver behavior on fuel economy to reinforce green driving behaviors to implement change.

Facilities: Hertz applies U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED standards for new construction projects and will certify select sites, in addition to energy-efficient improvements and recycling at its global facilities. Energy efficiency upgrades in 2012 saved almost 4,000,000 kWh and 2,791 metric tons of CO2 and Hertz’s solar panel systems installed at facilities across the country produced more than 2.5 million kWh of electricity annually, enough to power 217 homes for a year.

Recycling: Hertz prioritizes materials and goods that can be recycled and reused. In 2012, Hertz U.S. operations recycled more than 5.2 million pounds of office paper, saving the equivalent of 18.5 million gallons of water and 45,000 trees. Hertz’s Equipment Rental locations have recycled more than 194,000 gallons of used oil. In 2012, Hertz’s New Jersey headquarters increased recycling by 50% and reduced waste disposal costs by 65% and the Company’s cafeterias recycle a variety of paper and plastic, diverting thousands of tons of waste from landfills annually.

Community: Hertz sponsors the United Way, American Red Cross, Make-A-Wish Foundation, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Habitat for Humanity and many local organizations providing financial contributions and service opportunities for employees. Hertz also support veterans through its Hertz for Heroes initiative and has a protocol established to provide quick response and equipment to aid local recovery efforts when a natural disaster strikes.

Hertz Receives Women’s Choice Award For America’s Best Car Rental Services Company is the most recommended among American women in business travel, loyalty programs, best “green” options and overall customer service

PARK RIDGE, N.J., Oct. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — The Hertz Corporation (NYSE:HTZ), the world’s largest general use car rental brand, was awarded the 2013 Women’s Choice Award for America’s Best in Car Rental Services. American women voted and Hertz was selected to receive the award as the most recommended among women in the following four categories: 1) business travel, 2) loyalty programs, 3) best "green" options, and 4) overall customer service. The Women’s Choice Award is the only seal that recognizes brands based on a woman’s propensity to recommend that brand to others.

    (Logo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20130620/NY35609LOGO )

"It is an honor to be named one of the most recommended brands in America by women, whom are extremely influential in today’s consumer market," commented Mark P. Frissora, Hertz Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "WomenCertified Inc. is the leading women’s research company in America, and having their Women’s Choice Award seal on the Hertz brand name is a testament to our continued focus on providing our customers the best travel experience with superior customer service."

The WomenCertified Consumer Audit begins with sending a survey to up to 100,000 female consumers and further validates the scoring through a joint survey partnership with travAlliancemedia, which then distributes the survey to its database of approximately 60,000 travel agents. When a company bears the Women’s Choice Award seal, it serves as a beacon in identifying brands women recognize, trust and recommend. In a national survey, nine out of 10 women say they will "definitely" trust a brand or business if it carries the Women’s Choice Award seal.

WomenCertified, Inc. is the home of the Women’s Choice Award and set the foundation for the research process to determine brands and businesses that qualify for the Women’s Choice Award, which is the source for recommended products and brands.

    * The guidance for adjusted diluted earnings per share range is based on 465 million shares. Note that the prior guidance was based on 455 million shares which has been impacted by our share price throughout the year. The Company estimates that the share count difference results in a $0.04 per share variance. Based on a share count of 455 million shares, the February 2013 adjusted diluted EPS guidance range was $1.82 – $1.92.

"We are revising full year 2013 guidance primarily because of weaker than anticipated volume generated by the Hertz brand in the U.S. airport car rental market, our largest business," said Mark P. Frissora, the Company’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "Weaker volume impacts not only revenues, but also generates related fleet issues, including lower utilization and the inability of the used car market to absorb our excess vehicles at current market prices. Fortunately, stronger pricing in the U.S. airport car rental market is helping to partially offset softer volume. Despite these challenges, we anticipate Hertz will nevertheless generate record earnings for the full year, with adjusted pre-tax income up more than 30% year-over-year. Additionally, we are encouraged by the strong, ongoing performance of several of our businesses including: Hertz car rental off-airport, Dollar Thrifty, Donlen and HERC. We are especially pleased that the European car rental business has made significant progress throughout 2013, overcoming the protracted recession in that market," Frissora added.

The Company noted that Mr. Frissora will be speaking at the MKM Partners Entertainment and Leisure Conference at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City on September 26, 2013. He will discuss the slides attached to this press release (Exhibit A) pertaining to the revised full year 2013 guidance.

    About Non-GAAP Financial Measures
Corporate EBITDA represents EBITDA as adjusted for car rental fleet interest, car rental fleet depreciation and certain other items. EBITDA is defined as net income before net interest expense, income taxes and depreciation (which includes revenue earning equipment lease charges) and amortization. Adjusted pre-tax income is calculated as income before income taxes plus non-cash purchase accounting charges, non-cash debt charges relating to the amortization of debt financing costs and debt discounts and certain one-time charges and non-operational items. Adjusted net income is calculated as adjusted pre-tax income less a provision for income taxes derived utilizing a normalized income tax rate and noncontrolling interest. Adjusted diluted earnings per share is calculated as adjusted net income divided by the weighted average diluted shares outstanding for the period. Management believes that Corporate EBITDA, adjusted pre-tax income, adjusted net income and adjusted diluted earnings per share are useful in measuring the comparable results of the Company period-over-period. The GAAP measures most directly comparable to Corporate EBITDA, adjusted pre-tax income, adjusted net income and adjusted diluted earnings per share are (i) pre-tax income and cash flows from operating activities, (ii) pre-tax income, (iii) net income, and (iv) diluted earnings per share, respectively. Because of the forward-looking nature of the Company’s forecasted Corporate EBITDA, adjusted pre-tax income, adjusted net income and adjusted diluted earnings per share, specific quantifications of the amounts that would be required to reconcile forecasted cash flows from operating activities, pre-tax income and net income are not available. The Company believes that there is a degree of volatility with respect to certain of the Company’s GAAP measures, primarily related to fair value accounting for its financial assets (which includes the Company’s derivative financial instruments), its income tax reporting and certain adjustments made to arrive at the relevant non-GAAP measures, which preclude the Company from providing accurate forecasted reconciliations of GAAP to non-GAAP measures. Based on the above, the Company believes that providing estimates of the amounts that would be required to reconcile the range of the non-GAAP Corporate EBITDA, adjusted pre-tax income, adjusted net income and adjusted diluted earnings per share to forecasted cash flows from operating activities, pre-tax income, net income and diluted earnings per share would imply a degree of precision that would be confusing or misleading to investors for the reasons identified above.
